1963-1964 Pontiac GP Console And Vacuum Gauge, GTO, Lemans, Tempest, Grand Prix

Offered for your consideration is the Upper Forward Console and Vacuum Gauge from a 1963 or 1964 Pontiac Grand Prix. This is an original unrestored piece.

The console is in very good condition with all mountings in excellent condition. The ashtray cover pivots open nice and smooth. The vacuum gauge has been tested and works as it should. The chrome has some minor pitting that most of should buff out. Since it hasn't been restored and is almost 60 years old it IS NOT show car quality.

Please note that my research indicates that the vacuum gauge is correct for any of the Pontiacs that had a factory or dealer installed vacuum gauge from 1963, 1964, 1965, 1966, 1967, 1968, and 1969. This includes GTO, Grand Prix, Le Mans, Tempest and possibly others. Do your homework to be sure it is correct for you. Here is some info about the vacuum gauge. Reading this part is optional: Usually promoted as a fuel mileage aid, the vacuum gauge revealed the lead-footed or light-footed nature of the driver, based on engine vacuum readings. High vacuum--small throttle opening--pointed the needle toward the "Economy" area. Crack the throttle wide open or punch the gas to pass on the highway, and watch the needle swing to the "Power" area. Scale set in a robust, chromed, bullet-shaped housing. The 1963 Pontiac Chassis Shop Manual and similar ones for 1964 and 1965 explain that it was included on the extra-cost console (standard in GP) in full-size Pontiacs equipped with the optional automatic transmission (it may have reverted to a dealer accessory for 1966). A November 19, 1963, Pontiac Sales Blueprint mentions dealer-installed availability for manual-transmission models. Check out some of my other other COOL listings by clicking the here.
