I'm pleased to offer this exceedingly rare survivor of Tiffany history. This ring presentation box was made sometime between 1889 and 1902 based on the Union Street address. Tiffany moved from their Union Square store to Fifth Ave in 1902, three years after Charles Lewis Tiffany's death. Tiffany was awarded a gold metal at the 1878 and 1889 Paris Exposition, which is proudly stated on this presentation box. In gilt lettering, the lid says: TIFFANY & CO.UNION SQUARE, NEW YORK, LONDON PARIS, GRAND PRIX, EXPOSITIONS UNIVERSELLES, 1878 & 1899. I tried to capture how exquisite the gold gilt lettering is by take a few photos in raking light. As seen in the photos, the box is so tiny but loaded with details. The box has soiling, which is shown in the photos.
No attempt has been made to clean the item.
