First, let me say that the photos in this listing are of the ACTUAL radio you will get -I do NOT use "stock" photos! I have also included photos of the actual unit being bench-tested after repairs (1st, 2nd and 3rd photos). THE FACEPLATE WAS REPLACED WITH A BRAND-NEW, GENUINE GM FACEPLATE THAT HAS BEEN ON THE SHELF FOR YEARS-THE FACEPLATE IS FLAWLESS AS SHOWN!! This radio will also fit and work perfectly into many other GM cars and trucks from this era; all you have to do is use your original mounting brackets. This radio is in 100% working condition and will look GREAT once it's new owner puts a good detail on it.
The radio was not abused at all, but very dusty from sitting before being disassembled, repaired and worked on-under all that dust was a very nice-looking unit. I t was disassembled, tested and repaired by a professional radio repair shop here in San Antonio and was cleaned inside and out.
The radio was cleaned inside and out, adjusted and lubed. When the stereo receives a FM stereo broadcast, the "Stereo" indicator lights up brightly.
The push-buttons also work very well and push in very easily, and for storing and recalling the set stations. The stereo also has the SEEK/SCAN features built in. The SEEK feature allows the radio to pick the next best received station without turning the knob. The SCAN feature will do it automatically, staying on each station for five seconds before moving to the next.
The "SCAN" indicator will light up for whenever the stereo ORANGE color. The stereo is also equipped with a digital clock that displays when the key is turned on and when the radio is off, or after five seconds after tuning in a station. The clock was hooked up for a couple of hours and it kept perfect time. The cassette tape player also works perfectly and tapes play very clear with no sound distortions or garble. The capstans and head were cleaned, and the speed of the playback was correctly adjusted.
The fast forward and reverse switches also works very well, with a quick and quiet motion. The original belt was REPLACED to give you years of future usage.
The tape inserts and ejects nicely. The auto reverse feature also works correctly, with pushing in the top knob automatically plays the other side of the tape; the tape will also switch sides automatically when it is finished playing on one side.
The correct tape LED light comes on for whichever direction the cassette tape is playing. The four original illumination light bulbs are also still working perfectly, and light up the entire face-plate brightly and evenly in a soft orange color which is specific to Pontiac models Cosmetically, though the unit is used, it is in GREAT condition; all of the buttons have great finish the digital display lens cover is clear with only minimal wear and marks. All of the font is crisp and clear and looks great; the tape door is also in super condition with minimal wear as shown. ALL the mounting brackets can be removed and you can re-use your existing brackets to mount this radio correctly-as long as you have the "square" radio like these that GM made starting in 1984, then this will work with your old brackets; you can also re-use your original knobs if you prefer. ALL digital display numerals also work 100% as shown being bench-tested in the photos; it is not PERFECT like a new one would be, but works flawlessly and is VERY clean cosmetically. The item "MINT REBUILT OEM GM Delco 84-99 PONTIAC Models Digital DNR Radio Cassette Stereo" is in sale since Saturday, April 10, 2021.
